Brief: In our Miami Beach Family Residence, we reimagined a 2,500-square-foot residence for a family of six, honoring Miami Beach’s legacy of reinvention. Stripped to its shell, the home was rebuilt with a rational, light-filled layout defined by oak-clad millwork, maximized ceiling heights, and calm, breezy interiors. At its heart, a richly hued blue kitchen with a curving island and built-in banquette anchors the living and dining spaces. The result is an elegant, contemporary retreat that balances social connection with private sanctuaries, rooted in South Beach’s architectural heritage.
PROJECT NARRATIVE:
South Beach’s architectural identity has always been one of transformation. From its early days as a coconut plantation in the late 1800s to its reinvention in the 1930s with Art Deco, Streamline Moderne, and Mediterranean Revival landmarks, Miami Beach embodies a spirit of renewal. At 125 Jefferson Avenue, we embraced this legacy by stripping a residence to its shell and reimagining it as a modern family home that balances heritage with contemporary clarity.
The 2,500-square-foot plan was reorganized into a rational, orthogonal layout with maximized ceiling heights, designed to serve a family of six. A streamlined hallway connects the bedrooms to a generous primary suite, while oak-clad millwork, beams, and built-ins create a sense of warmth and continuity. Light filters through diaphanous drapery, softening the perimeter windows and imbuing the home with an atmosphere of calm. The entry sequence—anchored by custom oak cabinetry, storage, and a padded room—sets the tone for a residence rooted in order and refinement.
At the core of the home, a richly hued blue kitchen becomes both social centerpiece and family anchor. A sculptural island and built-in banquette define a lively dining and living area, while at the far end, the primary suite offers a spa-like bathroom, walk-in closet, and wood-clad ceiling that provides quiet repose. The result is a residence that feels both social and serene—an elegant South Beach retreat that honors the city’s architectural optimism while supporting the rhythms of contemporary family life.
